For most people the last two months of summer had gone by so fast that the news of school starting up again soon was a surprise. Their summers were filled with tons of interesting things that the summer had flown by for them. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case when it came to Admeta Mulciber, her summer had dragged. Most of her time had been spent doing things around the house and going outside trying to at least soak in some of the summers rays. The handful of people she considered friends had been busy enjoying their own summer vacations doing anything and everything to make it interesting. She might not have had the whole summer pack with enjoyable moments but there had been some interesting things that Addie did. During the first two weeks of the summer holidays, Addie had stayed with her grandparents, the wise Chiron V. Mulciber and his humble wife Odette S. Mulciber at their home in Blackpool. That was at least how they tried to portray themselves to everyone else, but Addie had slowly started seeing them in a new light. Despite her humiliation she experienced the summer before her first year, Addie still loved and respected her family.
During the two weeks in Blackpool, Addie had spent most of her time at the beach. It was a fair bit of walk from the manor but she really didn’t have much else to do. She could be found in the same spot everyday, black towel spread out on the sand with a pair of sunglasses to cover her eyes during the sunny days. All other cooler days, she spent staring out into the water thinking and just enjoying that all the eyes that usually watch her at home were miles away. It wasn’t much change from her scenery at home, but it was better then being cooped up in the house listening to her family entertaining themselves. Other then going to Blackpool for two weeks, Addie would occasionally see other relatives and family friends whenever Nero and Nola decided to drag her alone for appearance sake. Overall it had been a summer that Addie hoped to forget for its seer lack of entertainment.
The summer, however, hadn’t all be a disappointment for Addie. To her delight, during the summer she had grown up and changed from the baby faced kid she had been at the beginning of the year, to a young lady. Her hair had darkened and instead of always cutting it into a short bob that only went down to her ears, Addie now sported a longer more wavy hairstyle. She had taken the slight changes in her bad as a way to reinvent herself a bit. Not too much she still was the same determined person who fell in the shadow of her brother. Instead, she now looked different had a bit more confidence in herself she didn’t know where it had come from. A lot of the summer she spent thinking about how this small change might make the new school year a lot better then the last three had been. With this in mind, there we small spark of excitement in her when she realized it was time to go back to school soon.
Being a bit eager to not only get new school supplies but some new robes and clothing, Addie decided to head to Diagon Alley to get what she needed. It had been a chore and a half to convince her mother to let her go to Diagon Alley without her parents. She was getting older and it would be really awkward to have her mother there picking and probing her as she tired to get some new clothes. After a long debate about how she was still too young to go alone, Addie gave in to a compromise. Instead of going with her parents, she gave in to going with her brother, to the others demise. It wasn’t going alone but it was better then going with her parents. She knew once they got into Diagon Alley her brother would disappear to catch up with his friends and do his own thing. This would leave Addie to herself for a few hours, after all what could happen to you in Diagon Alley with all those people around.
Upon arriving in Diagon Alley, Addie headed to the bank first to get some money for everything she needed. The only thing she hated more then having to deal with some of her relatives was to deal with the cranky goblins in the bank. A lot of a nasty looks were exchanged between bother parties before Addie was done and had the money she needed. She would never understand the race, that and she thought they looked hideous and unkept. Maybe if one of them happened to know what a comb was, they wouldn’t be so cranky all the time. Money safely nestled in her pocket, Addie stood outside the bank and took a deep breathing taking in the familiar air. She casually scanned the crowds of people to see if anyone she knew was at the Alley today. Pulling out the list of things she would need for school, Addie headed down the stone steps and stopped in Flourish and Blotts first. Usually this was a bad idea to start with first, because once she got into the book store it was hard for her to leave. There would always be another book she wanted to read or search for. However, today she left like she might be able to resist her desire for literature. Pushing past the small crowd of what looked like first years; Addie entered the already crowded store and headed upstairs to where she always went first.
